How You Can Support Your Fussy Baby's Teacher

    Last updated 22 minutes ago

If you have a baby who is in a fussy phase, you know that it can be hard to calm and quiet him or her. Your baby's daycare teacher may be having the same problems with your angry little bundle of joy. Try these tips to make daycare less stressful:

    • Talk about the problem. Schedule a meeting with your baby's teacher to discuss the problems that your infant has at home to see if the same behavior is occurring in daycare. Discuss what works for you to calm the baby, and what doesn't work.
    • Listen to the teacher. This is especially important if this baby is your first child, because infant teachers have a great deal of experience with fussy babies. Listen to the teacher's recommendations, and bring in anything extra from home that your baby might need. You might want to consider changing your baby’s formula mix or the type of bottle you’re using. Even switching to a different brand of diapers, wipes, or rash cream could alleviate any problems.
    • Don't ambush the teacher. When you want to talk to the daycare teacher, set up an appointment when he or she can talk to you without interruptions, distractions, or being rushed. Keep in mind that you and the teacher are on the same side.
    • Remember that this, too, shall pass. Keep in mind that this fussy phase will pass. Crying peaks between one and two months of age, and after that, begins to decrease. Remind yourself and the teacher that the fussiness won't last forever; giving the teacher support, comfort, and praise can make it easier for you both to care for your baby!

What You Can Expect Your Pre-Kindergartener to do at Daycare

    Last updated 7 days ago

Before your child heads off to elementary school, he or she will have plenty to learn in daycare. No longer is a childcare center just a place where your child plays under the watchful eye of a caregiver; now, childcare is a place where he or she learns and grows.

    Learning Games
All the games your child plays will have an educational purpose. The games are designed to help reinforce what the teacher is teaching, to get the kids thinking about the concepts being taught, and to enrich their overall educational experience. The games are fun, engaging, entertaining, and, most importantly, educational.

    Science Experiments
A daycare facility is a great place for kids to experiment. They can learn many different concepts related to science with experiments that focus on mass, force, inertia, the difference between solids, liquids, and gases, or what happens to objects at different temperatures. Your child will enjoy the hands-on fun of science experiments.

    Reading
Your child will have story time. These stories will encourage your child to learn. In addition to learning about the subject of the story, they will learn how to listen quietly, sit still, and pay attention. These are all important pre-reading skills that your child will need in kindergarten.

    Arts and Crafts
Painting, cutting, gluing, coloring, and drawing are all part of the daycare experience. Your child will bring home some beautiful masterpieces that he or she has created. Your little one will get to explore different mediums to create and cultivate an appreciation for art.
